10 year Anniversary of the AFAS Foundation ‘Hope Gives Life’

The AFAS Foundation is celebrating 10 years and marked the occasion with a special event ‘Hoop Doet Leven’ (Dutch for ‘Hope Gives Life’) at the AFAS Theater in Leusden. The core theme of the evening was ‘hope’ within the social impact sector that AFAS has been supporting for the last decade.

For TUNAFASI, this was a particularly meaningful moment, as Betteke, founder and director of TUNAFASI was one of the keynote speakers during the evening. In her speech, she described ‘hope’ as the belief that things can change for the better—and as a powerful driver that transforms beliefs into action. She also emphasized the importance of local resource mobilization from the very start of each program—engaging communities and local governments as owners and active contributors. Only when people invest in themselves, and recognize the value of the work being done, can initiatives truly continue and thrive after external funding ends.

TUNAFASI has a trusted partnership with AFAS Foundation since 2022, and supports the DPRP/Tunafasi program of ADED and AJEPAD in Eastern DR Congo, on improving mother and child health care services to prevent and detect early malformations and disabilities.

Besides the partnership with ADED and AJEPAD in Eastern DR Congo, AFAS Foundation has supported nearly 700 projects worldwide that all have a strong focus on working towards system change and sustainable impact. Read the full article from AFAS Foundation here:
