Baraka is the third location where DPRP is integrated into existing governmental systems and structures. The programme is implemented by grassroots organisation AJEPAD. At the start, +/- 1.000 children and youth with disabilities were identified in 6 health areas in the Fizi Health Zone (Baraka). 6 CBRF's are identified to support these children and youth with disabilities, and their families. AJEPAD's works together with governmental and community stakeholders to strengthen medical rehabilitation services, inclusive education, social protection and livelihood systems, and prevention services. Its strength is activate community commitment and contributions, so that the programme continues after the exit. The year 2026 represents the final implementation year, before consolidating to strengthen sustainability.

Pastoral Women's Council
PWC is a membership organisation that empowers women at the community-level to take control of their own development in north-eastern Tanzania. The majority of inhabitants in these areas are Maasai pastoralists and different ethnic communities. PWC works in approximately 90 villages across the three districts. Today, they have approximately 6,500 women members and local, national and international partners that help contribute to our many achievements. Founded in 1997 by Maanda Ngoitiko, over PWC’s 20 year history of engagement with these communities enormous positive change has been achieved in the areas of land rights and property ownership, economic and entrepreneurial development, and dramatically increased girls’ education rates.

Disability Prevention, Rehabilitation Programme (DPRP) initiatives
DPRP is a community-driven approach dedicated to the inclusion of children and youth with disabilities, and their families. Not by just supporting individual families, but by strengthening local systems for health and prevention of birth defects and childhood disability, education, income, and social participation. Tunafasi gives support to grassroots organisations that contextualise DPRP with pilot project funding, strategic coaching and linking and networking with the broader DPRP alliance.

Tunafasi's principles: locally-led, trust-based, and exit aren't only applicable for DPRP. At its core, it means working alongside local leaders and grassroots organisations, building on what communities and systems already know or do - whether on disability, climate change, or other forms of marginalisation. That's why Tunafasi supports these organisations that work with these shared principles, in which we support them with linking, networking, and giving them a platform in Europe.
